Welcome to the official site of the Portland Institute of Silurian Sciences! We are the watchdog of the Shanghai Woolies, the rock musicians who play "hot jazz."

Here at the Institute, it is our mission to study creatures like these from the Silurian period and to prevent them from disturbing our modern way of life.

We believe:

• in peace and quiet
• in order
• in evenings spent at home with our entertainment systems, safe from unpredictable social contact, and where we can hear all the news we can use.

When people get together away from their carefully controlled workplaces, uncertain things can happen, and if any of them has fun or an idea, it might spread to others.

That is why we at the Institute must study and guard against creatures from the Silurian period who promote such behavior.
